The waste lands were the best of us
In those times we hung loosely to time and gave that thing all of our might and power
But I was the given one
They would chant,
Their words too hanging loosely in the air,
Never quite true to say out loud I feared
And then they’d look at me for hours as though I was of some magic unordained order
Their words wouldn’t stand up to Goliath
I feared I was the best of every world
And I gracefully wore that pearl
Lived in that pearl
Diamond encrusted world
When it rained I would whisper
“it feels like heaven today”
Sometimes their scars pain my heart,
it’s not fair I get to be this way
I blame the pearl for what it has made me
Shaped me
Crowned me-
Above all else
It gives me
