On Choosing The Artist’s Way
A while ago I was told a beautiful story that I’d love to recite for you. It goes like this; a prominent artist was seen lying on his back, looking up at the sky, appearing to a confused observer that he may be daydreaming when he should be working. Confused by the artist’s action, the observer called out to him and asked “What are you doing?”
The artist then replied “I am working”
A couple of days later, the observer looked out his window once again and noticed that the artist was in deep concentration, working on a breathtaking painting. He then called out to the artist asking “What are you doing?” The artist responded “I am resting”
I found this story to be a deeply profound exploration of the life path of a true artist. While reading Julia Cameron’s An Artist’s Way, I have learned that creativity is a gift, given by the creator and any way in which we choose to express this causes the universe to smile down at us in true love and appreciation…
